Royal BC Museum Embraces the Future

Founded in 1886, the RBCM’s mandate is to showcase the diverse stories of all British Columbians, including First Nations. Announcing a modernization program in 2022, the museum was harshly criticized for not fully living up to its mandate. After deep reflection, the museum firmly committed to embedding equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility into its practices. This includes replacing outdated exhibits with new ones that truly reflect the rich diversity of the province’s people and histories.
